Egg White Bread Loaf
Egg White Bread Loaf
Recipe Classification: Carnivore • Ketovore • Keto • Zero/Very Low-Carb • High-Protein • Gluten-Free*
Introduction
This Egg White Bread Loaf is a light, fluffy, high-protein carnivore bread made primarily from egg whites. With no flour, grains, nuts, seeds, or traditional bread ingredients, it's an excellent alternative for anyone following a carnivore, ketovore, keto, or very low-carb diet.
Liquid egg whites are whipped with powdered egg whites to create structure and volume, producing a soft loaf that can be sliced and used in place of conventional bread. A little butter or tallow adds richness, while cream of tartar helps stabilise the whipped egg whites and create a lighter texture.
Whether you're looking for carnivore bread, keto egg white bread, a high-protein bread without flour, or an easy zero-carb bread alternative, this simple loaf is perfect for sandwiches, toast-style breakfasts, or serving alongside eggs and meat.
Benefits of the Main Ingredients
Egg Whites
Egg whites are an exceptionally concentrated source of high-quality protein while containing virtually no carbohydrate or fat.
They provide all nine essential amino acids and are particularly rich in albumin proteins. Egg whites also provide selenium, riboflavin, and smaller amounts of several other micronutrients.
Using both liquid and powdered egg whites significantly increases the protein content while giving the loaf enough structure to mimic traditional bread without flour.
Powdered Egg Whites
Powdered egg whites are simply dehydrated egg whites and provide concentrated animal protein with very little carbohydrate or fat.
They're particularly useful in carnivore and keto baking because they provide structure without grain flour, almond flour, coconut flour, starches, or gums.
For the strictest Carnivore version, powdered egg whites are my preferred choice over whey protein powder.
Tallow
Beef tallow is almost entirely fat and naturally contains no carbohydrates. It's heat-stable and works particularly well for greasing a Carnivore bread loaf.
Using tallow also keeps the recipe almost entirely meat-and-egg based.
Butter
Butter is another Carnivore-friendly option that adds richness and provides predominantly fat with only trace amounts of carbohydrate.
Either butter or tallow works well depending on the flavour you prefer.
Sea Salt
Salt enhances the otherwise mild flavour of egg whites and is commonly included in Carnivore cooking.
Cream of Tartar
Cream of tartar isn't an animal product, so an extremely strict Carnivore diet wouldn't technically include it. However, only ½ teaspoon is used for the entire loaf, and its purpose is functional rather than nutritional: the acidity helps stabilise whipped egg whites and maintain their volume during baking.
It contributes a negligible amount of carbohydrate per slice.
Why You'll Love This Recipe
One of the biggest differences between this recipe and many commercially available keto breads is the incredibly short ingredient list.
There's no wheat flour, almond flour, coconut flour, psyllium husk, starch, sugar, or seed flour. Instead, egg protein creates the structure of the loaf.
That makes it particularly useful for Carnivore and Ketovore recipes where conventional keto breads may contain too many plant ingredients.
Slice it and use it for breakfast sandwiches with bacon and eggs, serve it alongside steak, make a chicken sandwich, or toast it and spread with butter.
